Hazardous Waste Compliance – SB 14

California’s Hazardous Waste Source Reduction and Management Review Act of 1989 (referred to as SB 14) requires hazardous waste generators to evaluate their hazardous waste generation and implement source reduction measures designed to reduce the volume or toxicity of wastes generated. Although the requirement to report SB 14 activities to the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA) Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has sunsetted, the requirements still exist for facilities to create the various plans and reports and maintain them on-site. Certified Unified Program Agencies (CUPAs) are charged with verifying compliance with the SB 14 requirements as part of their hazardous waste generator inspections.

Yorke staff have been involved with SB 14 since the program’s inception and have assisted a wide variety of clients in manufacturing, power generation, petroleum, chemical, and other sectors.
